چکیده
Erosion of refractory lining due to flow induced wall shear stress is one among severe problems that shop floor personnel face in continuous casting tundish operation. It decreases the life and increases overall operational cost. Wall turbulent major factors erosion tundish. Inclusion generation creates surface defects may lead rejection final products. Turbulent inhibitor box (TIB) helps reducing by confining zone hence changes pattern. In present work, three-dimensional fluid study has been carried out investigate stress. High zones (HSSZ) are taken as potential inclusion sites. Different sizes inclusions injected from those sites their paths tracked. found shape TIB significantly affects removal rate. Results indicate with 3 arrangement exhibited minimum at all walls. 2 coupled gives highest rate case bottom originated small size (<= 80 µm) least curve inclusions.

Modeling of Inclusion Removal in a Tundish
Mathematical models have been developed to predict the removal of alumina inclusions from molten steel in a continuous casting tundish, including the effects of turbulent collisions, reoxidation, flotation, and removal on the inclusion size distribution. The trajectories of inclusion particles are tracked through the three-dimensional (3-D) flow distribution, which was calculated with the K-ε t...
متن کاملComputational modeling of coupled blood-wall mass transport of LDL: effects of local wall shear stress.
The work herein represents a novel approach for the modeling of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) transport from the artery lumen into the arterial wall, taking into account the effects of local wall shear stress (WSS) on the endothelial cell layer and its pathways of volume and solute flux. We have simulated LDL transport in an axisymmetric representation of a stenosed coronary artery, where the e...
متن کاملMathematical Analysis of Inclusion Removal from Liquid Steel by Gas Bubbling in a Casting Tundish
The mechanism of inclusion removal from liquid steel by gas bubbling and bubble attachment in the tundish is complex due to the great number of variables involved, and it is even more difficult to study because of the turbulent flow conditions. The main objective of this work is to analyze and improve the understanding of the alumina inclusion removal rate by bubble attachment and by gas bubbli...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Intravascular Blood Coagulation under Wall Shear Stress
Increased shear stress such as observed at local stenosis may cause drastic changes in the permeability of the vessel wall to procoagulants and thus initiate intravascular blood coagulation. In this paper we suggest a mathematical model to investigate how shear stress-induced permeability influences the thrombogenic potential of atherosclerotic plaques. Numerical analysis of the model reveals t...
متن کاملLagrangian wall shear stress structures and near wall transport in high Schmidt aneurysmal flows
The wall shear stress (WSS) vector field provides a signature for near wall convective transport, and can be scaled to obtain a first order approximation of the near wall fluid velocity. The near wall flow field governs mass transfer problems in convection dominated open flows with high Schmidt number, in which case a flux at the wall will lead to a thin concentration boundary layer. Such near ...
